Overview of the role:
As a Teaching Assistant specializing in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within our educational institution, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs. This apprenticeship position is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in working with individuals who have special educational needs and disabilities. You will work under the guidance of experienced educators to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities will include:
**Supporting Classroom Activities**:

- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt and differentiate teaching materials to meet the specific needs of students.

**Providing Individualized Support**:

- Work one-on-one with students who require additional support in their learning.
- Implement strategies to promote inclusion and facilitate participation in classroom activities.

**Assessment and Progress Monitoring**:

- Support the assessment of students' progress and contribute to the development of progress reports.
- Work closely with teachers to identify areas of improvement and implement targeted interventions.

**Behavioural Support**:

- Assist in managing and addressing challenging behaviours, implementing behaviour plans as necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.

**Communication and Collaboration**:

- Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the students' education.
- Collaborate with the special education team to share insights, strategies, and best practices.

**Professional Development**:

- Actively engage in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of special education.
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the area of SEND.

**Administrative Tasks**:

- Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
- Contribute to the maintenance of accurate records related to student progress and support provided.

Apprenticeship Summary:

- You will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification across a total duration of 16 months
- All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release
- An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship

All staff should be aware that safeguarding children is everybody’s responsibility and that they are expected to follow the school’s agreed policies and procedures.
