- Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
- Duration: 16 months

Overview of the role:
Responsibilities will include:
SUPPORT FOR PUPILS
- Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with special needs to ensure their safety and access to learning activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of pupil targets, Individual Education Plans/behaviour Plans and similar.
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
- Have challenging and demanding expectations of pupils and promote their self-esteem and independence
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher
- Following teacher instruction, adapt learning activities to promote good progress in pupils showing initiative and creative thinking when needed.
- Liaise with parents/carers as appropriate to provide support for and enhance learning opportunities for pupils.

SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS
- Lead group work, following and adapting lesson plans in accordance with the teacher’s instructions
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Assist with the organisation of learning activities.
- Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems, etc.
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment that is conducive to learning.
- Help to maintain tidiness in the classroom and communal areas.
- Display pupils’ work and make books/folders as required.
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers
- Administer routine tests and invigilate exams and undertake routine marking of pupils’ work
- Provide clerical/admin support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, money, administer coursework etc.
- Provide occasional class cover to release teachers for meetings etc. Work to be set by class teacher.

Apprenticeship Summary:

- You will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification across a total duration of 16 months
- All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release
- An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship

All staff should be aware that safeguarding children is everybody’s responsibility and that they are expected to follow the school’s agreed policies and procedures.
