To work as a member of the Equipment Library team in the decontamination, processing and storage of static/dynamic mattresses and other equipment in a safe and organised manner. The holder is required to follow departmental procedures.

1. Collect used equipment from wards/clinics in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with departmental and Trust procedures.
2. Provide a cleaning service for static and dynamic mattresses.
3. Undertake cleaning of medical devices/mattresses by the use of washer or manually where required using personal protective equipment provided
4. Use of washers/dryers and ensure the right cycle is selected in accordance with Infection Control and decontamination procedures.
5. To use appropriate equipment provided to carry out allocated tasks of cleaning equipment including PPE.
6. Comply with departmental systems for signing off items cleaned/checked and adhering completely to the use of tracking and traceability systems and documentation.

1. To effectively communicate with different areas within department to ensure processes are run smoothly.
2. Ensure that all the equipment has been PAT tested/safety-checked and physically inspected for any obvious damage/ wear and tear that needs to be rectified prior to allocating it to the patient.
3. Testing and confidently reporting faults via appropriate channels and packaging of mattresses and other equipment as specified in the clean room
4. Handling telephone requests from ward staff, advising them on the equipment available.
5. Deliver all the equipment requested by ward staff in a timely manner.
6. Ensure that departmental policies, procedures and guidelines are followed.
