**Casual Residential Childcare Worker**

**Team: The Bungalow Children's Home (FARCYJ)**

**Location: Preston**

**Basic Salary**:£12.47 per hour **(additional 25% of hourly rate for weekend working, and 50% for bank holidays). Sleeping in allowance of £37.72 for overnight stays with additional payment should your sleep be disturbed)

**Casual residential childcare workers **to work at **The Bungalow which is short stay children's home **(FARCYJ) **within **Children's Social Services **at Lancashire County Council.

As a Residential Childcare worker, your position within Children's Social Services will play a vital role supporting young people **who live within our children's home **. We are a **1 bed **children's home **based in Fulwood, Preston, who look after young people aged between 13-18, often with social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. An integral part of your role will be working with our young person on a day-to-day basis, helping them to develop lifelong skills and sharing experiences which will support them with moving into their forever home and then stay with them into adulthood. Furthermore, you will provide them with support, advice and guidance in all aspects of their lives and help them to become the best they can be. You will work within an experienced team who have the same ethos as you and who can help you to develop within your role. You will also have opportunities to work with other teams and agencies, such as health and education, to create a bespoke package of care for our young person.

**What we are looking for
**Passion **- Y ou'll be passionate about making a difference to the lives of our young person and the key people within their lives; taking a holistic approach in the way you work with our young person. You will want to help our young person to develop lifelong skills and knowledge which they can use in their day to day lives and take with them on their journey to their forever home. Not only this, you will have a passion for working with others in order to provide bespoke, individualised care for our young person. You will be supportive of your colleagues and keen to develop professionally and personally and form lasting relationships with others.

**Practical **- You'll be a problem solver, with an ability to think calmly and rationally whilst keeping our young person's best interests at the forefront of all decisions. You'll take pride in your work and enjoy building positive and lasting relationships with our young person and help them to realise their potential. You will have positive communication skills, both written and verbal, and you will work well with others in a collaborative manner. As a casual member of staff you will work on an 'as and when' basis including weekends and sleeping in, ensuring the home is covered 24/7, 365 days a year.

**Driving**:Although this post does not require you to have your own vehicle, it does require all applicants to have a full UK driving licence. Transporting our young person to and from family visits as well as in emergency situations is an integral part of the role, therefore the ability to drive our fleet vehicles is essential.

**Collaborative - **You'll be working alongside a skilled and passionate team, as well as working with the young person who lives at the home and the key people within their lives. You will also work alongside other professionals, such as social workers, health professionals and education providers to provide a multi-agency approach to help create a bespoke package of care for the young people. By working with a range of professionals and alongside our established and highly skilled staff team, you can deliver the very best outcomes for our young person, as well as broadening your own knowledge of different services.

**Benefits**:As a casual worker you can opt in to shifts you are offered in our home and a number of other homes across Lancashire should you have the availability. As a casual worker you are not entitled to annual leave however an additional payment of 7% of your pay is added to your wages to compensate you for this. Increased hourly rate for weekend working as well as a nightly rate for sleeping over at the children's home. As we are a home, we like to encourage our staff to have their meals with the children so meals for staff are provided when on shift.
