**Intensive Support Worker - Peldon - Colchester**

Autism Anglia is a well-established charity celebrating 50 years. We have opportunities available for Intensive Support Workers on a full-time basis. Working from our Peldon Campus in John Jones house and Ashton House. The successful Intensive Support Worker will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum and enable them to maximize their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The successful Intensive Support Worker will work as part of a team to help those in your care to help them achieve their own life goals, through person-centred planning.

Autism Anglia is dedicated to providing ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.
- **Location**: Peldon Campus, Colchester, CO5
- **Salary**: £10.45 per hour (inclusive of £0.25 Intensive Support Allowance (ISA))
- **Hours**: Full Time 37 hours per week

**Peldon**:
Peldon accommodates individuals within the autistic spectrum aged 20 - 50 years as part of Autism Anglia’s Adult services. Enabling all individuals to participate in various physical activities such as walking, swimming, shopping, and general socialising in the wider community. Including planning and attending person-centered annual holidays and days out.

Support workers at Peldon recognise the aspirations of, and work towards enabling, the people we support and help them to achieve their own life plans and develop life skills, through person-centered planning. This will include being actively involved in empowering them to make individual choices about their everyday living.

**The role**:

- Personalising activities to suit and benefit the person you will be supporting while delivering a high standard of care and support.
- Driving out to locations to ensure personalised activities can be fulfilled.
- Supporting individuals with personal care needs, health, and hygiene with a focus on developing daily life skills.
- Updating personalised documentation as required and maintaining the individuals care and support plans
- Working alongside the Team Leader in the day-to-day management of the service and deputising in their absence.
- Developing and maintaining up-to-date individualised support plans appropriate to the specific needs of the individual to encourage developers to their full potential.
- Supporting colleagues to ensure a high standard of delivery, recognising positive achievements for individuals and staff.
- Supporting/enabling individuals in daily activities which could include swimming, cycling, walking, tennis, and other community-based activities.

- Ability to manage emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours.
- Ability to identify needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.
- Experience in working with people with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
- Experienced with activity co-ordination, knowledge of opportunities in surrounding areas
- Good range of communication skills
- Experience working within a health and social care environment

**It is essential that the successful applicant holds a full driving licence.**
