Our client is a well-established charity. We have opportunities available for Support Workers on a full-time basis. Working from our Essex Campus in Colchester The successful Support Worker will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum and enable them to maximise their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The Support Worker will work as part of a team to help those in your care to help them achieve their own life plans, through a person-centred approach.

Our client is dedicated to providing ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.

**Essex Campus**

Our Clients Supported Living service supports individuals across multiple locations in the Colchester and Greater Colchester areas. Offering one-to-one support and enabling autistic people to live as independently as possible. They work together to enable access to the wider community. Every Supported Living service is located in the community and is either a housing association property, privately rented or owned. Services range from one to four adults per property, depending on suitability and need

Support Workers at the campus recognise each individual’s aspirations. Support Workers and the team, work towards enabling individuals to achieve their own life plans by developing life skills through person-centred, strengths-based planning. This will include being actively involved in empowering them to make individual choices about their everyday living.

**The role**:

- Working in partnership with the team to provide a strengths-based, outcome focused approach for all individuals.
- Maintain the dignity, respect and privacy of each individual supported by assisting them with personal care, health and hygiene-related activities, which may involve sport and leisure, cultural and recreational activities including day trips, short breaks or holidays.
- Assist individuals with communication support tasks, physiological monitoring, or intervention and sensory support tasks.
- Ensure that the quality of support given meets the identified needs and that all relevant documentation is regularly reviewed, evaluated and amended as necessary.
- Keep up-to-date and clear and accurate records and support plans/ risk assessments to reflect each individual’s requirements.
- Know, understand and work within Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults procedures, ensuring all concerns are acted on and dealt with according to policy and procedure

- Ability to manage emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours.
- Ability to identify the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.
- Experience in working with people with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
- Experienced with activity co-ordination, knowledge of opportunities in surrounding areas
- Good range of communication skills
- It is highly desirable that you hold a clean driving licence with at least two years of driving experience
- Experience working within a health and social care environment
