Brecon, United Kingdom Powys Teaching Health Board Full time

The Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 has provided an opportunity for
Powys Teaching Health Board and its Local Authority partners of Powys to
develop new primary care-based mental health services for the population of South Powys.

An exciting new post has been developed within the CAMHS team in Powys,

You will be joining a very experienced highly motivated team, that only launched on July 11th this year. You will be responsible for ensuring consistency for referrers in to CAMHS as well as providing quality part one assessments to children and young people of Powys where this is indicated.

As part of the CAMHS service you will be responsive to the needs of
individuals for whom the GP or other referring agent, feels a further assessment of their mental health is necessary. You will be experienced and confident to discuss with the referrer their concerns, and where appropriate provide guidance, signposting and advice about treatment or
management.

As a CAMHS Practitioner based within the single point of access team (SPOA), you will be responsible for managing calls in to the service, working closely with the referrers, providing guidance/consultation to help develop understanding and confidence in dealing with individuals with mental health problems, and help to ensure that the barriers to accessing appropriate treatments are removed, ensuring we as the professionals find the right pathway for the child, young person and their family and no wrong door is knocked on by the service user.

You will ensure the service user receives a full part one mental health assessment, with a clear formulation as direction for the intervention to be undertaken. This will be a significant part of the role.

Powys is cited as being a wonderful place to live and work; a rural health setting where you can personally and professionally grow, where patients are at the heart of care provision. If you are an ambitious professional in search of job satisfaction, Powys is the place to be. Whatever your career aspirations, we are committed to supporting and developing you.
