This is an opportunity to join our friendly reception/patient service advisor team, undertaking a key role in helping patients navigate the healthcare system.

We are looking to fill the following:
**Tues 8 - 2pm, Weds 8 - 6.30pm, Thurs 8 - 6pm = 24.5hrs**

**Role**

Desirable experience - Medical Receptionist for 2 years, Previous or existing user of SystmOne Clinical System

Essential experience - Customer Service experience 2 years, face to face and on the phone in a fast paced environment and good IT skills

**Job Purpose**

Facilitate patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional to best meet their needs in a courteous, efficient, and effective way, projecting a positive and friendly image of Honiton Surgery. Provide support to Doctors, Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Finance Manager, and other staff in the pursuit of their duties.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Processing high volumes of personal, telephone and electronic requests for appointments, home visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Care navigate patients’ requests using the correct guidelines to ensure all requests are dealt with according to Surgery protocols and in accordance with the patients’ needs
- Respond to patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner
- Able to work in a fast paced, extremely busy environment
- Contact patients using a variety of means on behalf of Honiton Surgery
- Operate the computerised appointments systems in line with practice protocols
- Have thorough knowledge of relevant practice protocols to ensure the smooth running of the Surgery Reception these areas, keeping up to date with any changes
- Retrieve and re-file patient medical records, both computerised and manual
- Carry out start and end of day procedures as per practice guidelines
- Maintain effective liaison with practice staff and outside agencies concerned with patient care with appropriate regard to confidentiality
- Undertake training as directed by Management and attend team meetings as required

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST**

Good standard of general education and good keyboard skills.
Successful experience of using MS Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
Understand and respect of practice protocols including confidentiality.
Willingness and ability to accept change in a positive manner.
Willingness and ability to learn new computer packages as digital changes advance in the NHS.
Be able to prioritise workload and work under pressure. Manage high call volumes from patients in an efficient and positive manner.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.5 per week
