We are looking for a dynamic cook to play a central role in the development and running of the Walesby Forest kitchen. You must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required.

**Specific Tasks**
- **Kitchen**
- Prepare meals for all customers:
a. Schools - as per the fixed menu

b. Public - as per the lunchtime and dinnertime bar menus.

c. Staff - lunch for all staff as requested and dinner for the apprentices.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the catering manager when an order is required.
- Leave coherent instructions to others in the catering team for work required.
- Understand the needs of the customers, and staff the kitchen as requested.
- Oversee the apprentices who may be asked to assist at times with service.
- **Housekeeping**
- Ensure the catering barn is clean before and after every service.
- Maintain the serving area cleanliness and presentation throughout the service period.
- Clear tables as and when needed.
- Suggest developments to the Catering Manager to make sure it is fit for purpose.
- Raise maintenance issues with the Catering Manager if work needs to be done.
- **Finance**
- Work with the Catering Manager to ensure that expenditure levels are not exceeded.
- **General**
- Display fantastic customer service and be a role model to staff.
- Take a flexible approach to general administrative and support tasks when needed.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Catering Manager.
**Personal Specification**
1. Experience
Essential
- Food hygiene qualifications.
- Working with members of the public.
- Kitchen work and preparing food.
- Leading a small catering team.

Desirable
- Working within a charitable environment.
- Working in a setting with very high peaks and troughs.
2. Skills and Competencies
Essential
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills required to build relationships with customers.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work on own.

Desirable
- Ability to understand budgets.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 7 months

**Salary**: £10.65 per hour
