**Responsibilities**:
This role will involve the implementation of high standards of health and safety management to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, contractors and other users of the Trusts premises. You will provide support and expert advice on matters of health and safety including the delivery of training and ensure that the learning from incidents, audits and inspections is shared and acted upon.

You will be required to work with staff and colleagues at all levels in the organisation. You will be highly effective in your communication skills, be able to work to tight timeframes, and have exceptional organisational skills. You will be flexible and the ability to work as part of a team.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

**Responsibilities**:

- To provide health and safety advice guidance and support to staff and others as necessary.
- To undertake risk assessments and assist in the undertaking of risk assessments throughout the Trust to ensure the process is undertaken correctly in accordance with legislative requirements and Trust policy.
- To report and to assist staff to report health and safety incidents on the Trusts incident reporting tool (Ulysses)
- Assist when necessary with incident investigations for any staff RIDDOR reportable incidents and provide reports and updates as necessary to the Trusts Health, Safety Security and Governance Committee meetings.
- To undertake inspections/audits as necessary to ensure the workplace is deemed fit for purpose and to reduce the element of risk to all concerned.
- To undertake incident investigations in a timely and professional manner to assess causation allowing preventative actions to be taken reducing the possibility of a recurrence being realised.
- To monitor and assist in the investigation of any health and safety incidents raised on Ulysses.
- To ensure confidentiality of information and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Prioritise their own workload to ensure deadlines are met and work is of an appropriate standard.
- To undertake any other such duties as deemed appropriate by the Trusts Health and Safety Lead and Head of Quality Governance.
