**Role: Teaching Assistant**

**Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30-16.00 and Wednesday’s 8.30-17.00**:

We are currently recruiting for a resilient Teaching Assistant to join a brilliant Special Needs Primary school in the Horley area. This school caters for children aged 6 to 11 years old, all of whom have communication difficulties, and the majority of which have Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism.

Due to the student’s individual needs and communication difficulties, they can display challenging behaviour at times, as they may struggle to understand or effectively communicate their needs.

You will be joining a fantastically supportive staff team; the school believes strongly in working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for both their students and staff. You will be well trained before you start, with consistent training opportunities, such as continuous professional development sessions once per week.
**Your duties and responsibilities will include**:

- To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe, and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at school
- To promote and encourage independence and personal development
- Support the class teacher in all areas of the day to day running of the class
- To respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school
- Willing to be involved with occasional, necessary physical intervention; full training on this will be provided
- To promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.
- Resilience and patience with working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour
- Commitment to ongoing personal development
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Experience working in a special school environment is desirable

**Salary**: £14,112.00-£17,689.00 per year
