We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with experience of facilitating Family Group Decision Making and Mediation who will strive to improve outcomes for families.

The post-holder will work within a team of Family Group Decision Making and Mediation facilitators, in the Families Working Together Team.

**You will**:

- Work directly with children, young people and their families in order to promote, strengthen and to develop the potential of parents/carers and their children living together safely in order to prevent children suffering significant harm and/or becoming looked after.
- Be responsible for the planning, co-ordination, facilitation and review of Family Group Conferences and family mediation in a way that responds appropriately to the needs of the individual families from a diversity of backgrounds.
- Contribute to planning, decision making and practice for children and families within Children’s Services in order to prevent family breakdown.
- Conduct Family Group Decision Making and Mediation with families with the aim of preventing family breakdown.
- Adopt a whole family approach to supporting children, young people and their families on the edge of care and Family Help.
- Contribute to multi-agency assessments of children and families in need of help and support.
- Co-work cases with members of the team and take responsibility as part of that process for sharing knowledge and developing learning for all.
- Work with the wider team in ensuring the voice and needs of children and young people are at the fore front of team working.

The post holder will be supervised by - Senior Family Group Decision Maker and Mediation Facilitator / Specialist Family Support Manager.

**You will need to have**:

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent e.g. in Education, Health or Social Care, Community Development or Diploma in Youth & Community work.
- Accredited Family Group Conference and Mediation Trained or willing to complete the training.
- The achievement of English and Maths or equivalent to level 2 of the National Qualification Framework
- A positive enhanced DBS disclosure

**Our working arrangements**

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
