Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Nursing and Occupational Therapy professionals interested in working with children and young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and who present with social communication concerns. You will join an experienced Clinical Psychology team - Social Communication Assessment Pathway to work alongside Community Paediatricians and Speech and Language Therapists who form a Multidisciplinary Team approach.
You will contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the Psychology Team, providing specialist autism assessments and contributing towards psychology informed assessments as appropriate. The role will involve offering consultation and advice to all members of the MDT and liaison with parents, carers and professionals.
The Psychology Team provide a countywide service to children and young people across sites in Lincoln, Boston, Spalding, Grantham and Louth. You will be expected to travel to other sites in the county as required. It is planned that you will be based in Lincoln, although you are welcome to discuss arrangements for location of base as this may be negotiated. In addition, the service makes use of digital technology that supports home working which is appropriate for many aspects of this post.
Be responsible for working autonomously, within the Health Trust’s and the HCPC’s professional guidelines.
Be assertive and able work with a high degree of independence.
Deliver a high standard of clinical leadership to the team as well as the multi-disciplinary team.
Provide psychology-informed opinion to all members of the MDT, and also families and professionals about a child or young person’s behavioural and or emotional presentation.
Be skilled in the assessment of children with the ability to differentiate other potential factors such as attachment, trauma, and mental health.
Be skilled at writing comprehensive reports to communicate sensitive information to the child and young person, parents, carers and professionals.
Require the skills and confidence to provide specialist knowledge and support to the team and wider multi-agency colleagues.
Be expected to provide supervision to less experienced team members
Be able to travel independently and work flexibly across the county to support the service. The post holder will be comfortable with working remotely for the majority of their working week. The balance of working from a base and home working (known as hybrid working or blended working) is determined by the needs of the service.

To provide developmental and/or mental health assessments for children and young people referred to the multi professional team which will include risk assessments as appropriate.
To support with the facilitation of psychometric assessments undertaken with children and young people.
To exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the psychologically-informed assessment, formulation and discharge of children and young people referred to the Service where assessment from the Psychology Team is required.
To ensure information from completed developmental assessments is disseminated and understood by all involved.
To provide comprehensive reports for referrers and, on occasion, present these at the local Out of Area Treatment panel (OAT panel).
To offer advice and guidance to staff (internal and external to the MDT) about developmental and risk assessments completed and incorporate the assessments into a multi-professional report which may recommend interventions to address identified behavioural, mental health and/or developmental needs and support staff in the provision of these interventions as appropriate.
To act as Lead Professional where appropriate.
