**A bit about the role**

The Gael Og Youth Service is part of Action for Children and is based at Rail House, Inverness.

The service works with Parents and Young People (from 11 - 18 years of age) through 1:1 work, family work, parenting workand group work. The main aims of the service are to; A) Prevent Placement Breakdown; either at home or in residential care and B) To facilitate transitions back to the Young Persons locality. Requests for service are via Social Work through the Lead Professional.

By offering support that is Intensive, the service engages families during times of crisis and difficulty, by offering Parents and young people strategies to manage their emotions and behaviour. Thus leading to increased stability and an improved quality of family life.

Our aim is to;
- Prevent placement breakdown by working in partnership with agencies to achieve positive outcomes, and offeringtherapeutic support to Young People and their families, in line with the needs assessment.
- Facilitate successful transitions for Young People returning to their locality through effective partnership working, understanding around levels of need and offering structured, therapeutic support.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

You'll make a great difference in the lives of the young people by;
- Overseeing, delivering and evaluating individual work aimed at helping parents and young people to develop their abilities through assessment, intervention and evaluation.
- Delivering group work programmes to Children, Young People and their Parents, addressing a wide variety of issues that may affecttheir ability to achieve their potential.
- Assessing adolescent and parental needs and to promote the young person's health and wellbeing by providing appropriateactivities and experiences; using accredited models.
- Preparing written reports to contribute to the wider Childs Plan, and to present these details at multi-agency meetings; representing the organisation and supporting the family. Work closely and professionally with partner agencies to deliver services that offer the most appropriate and beneficial support to Children, Young People and their Families, contributing to more successful outcomes.
- Working with and managing challenging behaviour and supporting young people and their families effectively.
- Actively encouraging and supporting families to access wider community supports that will contribute to their overall wellbeing.

- To participate in a flexible working rota to provide support for young people, some evening and weekend work will be required.
- A UK driving licence and a willingness to travel due to the large rural catchment area.
- To work cross functionally with other services within Gael Og to ensure that Action for Children's Values and strategic objectives are achieved.
- To guide and support less experienced staff.
