We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have Learning Disabilities or Learning Difficulties living in County Durham. We support our customers to live independently and maintain their tenancies.

We offer:
Emotional Support - providing support aimed at building self-confidence and raising self-esteem.

Practical Support****:

- Developing close links with community networks to allow better access to local resources such as health care, training, education, and employment, as well as the improvement of basic home skills. This support will also be used to assist, where necessary, in the integration of each customer into the community and in developing independence.

Advocacy and Advice - Seeking to minimise disadvantage by provision of benefits advice and access to resources which will enhance the skills and knowledge of our customers.

We support parents with a learning disability or difficulty to develop parenting skills, providing support to customers to access specialist advice and working in partnership with voluntary and statutory agencies to help safeguard the welfare of our customers and their children.

We support pregnant women with a learning disability or difficulty in a preventative capacity, with the aim of keeping the family unit together whilst ensuring the welfare of the child is paramount.

**About you**

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You’ll have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers’ needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Support Co-ordinators and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe) You’ll be given the latest IT kit, which will include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone.

As this is a community-based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use
- When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one._

**About our team**

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.

Our manager is Gemma who has worked for Home Group for 18 years. There are 10 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too The team is made up of 5 support coordinators and 5 support workers. We like to get together for team wellbeing events and love a good quiz. Nicky is our team dog expert; Carole is our baking queen and Jill is our tech wizard.

**Working hours**

You will work Monday - Friday between the hours of 9am - 5pm. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you
