As Health, Safety and Security Leader, you’ll help lead a team that will create an environment and culture that is a safe and secure place to work allowing staff to develop and grow.
From a restaurant to break-out spaces and a library, to offices and controlled laboratory environments... our workplace is as varied as our research. You’ll be the day to day leader of a dedicated HSES team, developing and managing both the team and their day to day activity set. A successful individual will bring a principle based agile mindset needed to identify solutions in an R&D environment while keeping staff and assets safe, as well as be deputy to the Head of Health Safety Environment and Security, stepping into senior level governance meetings where needed and be preparing senior leadership reports as required. You’ll support audit processes making recommendations on both findings and the processes as you go.
NPL, where the work allows, work in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working. A member of the leadership team, responsible for developing and leading on health, and safety organisational standards, ensuring compliance with legislation and Company management systems.
To be successful, you should have the following experience:
- Proven track record of leading, developing and growing an HSE team with diverse skills and experience
Experience with interacting with and reporting to senior leaders
Desirable experience:
- Science and or R&D HSE background
Qualifications in Fire Safety
HAZOP and or safety case development
Qualifications:
- NVQ level 5 or equivalent in HSE
Science background
Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH min)
The role will report to the Head of Health Safety Environment and Security
We are only recruiting either a British National or an individual both of whom must have over 5 yrs continuous UK residency due to the nature of our work in this area and security requirements
