Communities Activities Officer

Our client is a new partnership offering community led activities creating volunteering opportunities, responding to gaps in the needs of communities to improve wellbeing and increase levels of social connections to reduce loneliness

As the Community Activities Officer you will be responsible for organising and creating a varied activities programme, from organising creative activities to group events to completing one to one support with specific activities, all of which will promote independence, resilience, choice and dignity for our participants, enabling participants to develop valuable personal and work-based skills and gain confidence to enable them to achieve their goals. The Community Activities Officer will also deliver an introduction to activities, will ensure all activities are completed in a safe manner and will provide support for the development of soft skills, helping participants to progress.

Experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- IAG Level 2 or equivalent
- Knowledge of the local voluntary and community sector and experience of working with people who have multiple barriers
- Ability to work on own initiative and self-manage work load whilst being a team player and recognising the importance of partnership working
- Have previous experience of running activity-based sessions
- Have previous experience of tracking improvements using Action Plans/STAR Outcomes or similar
- Ability to motivate people who lack confidence
- Customer care skills
- Experience of data collection and collation, including writing reports and case studies
- Caring and empathetic nature
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually
- Flexibility and be able to adapt to the needs of participants
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience of following safe lone working practice guidelines
- Knowledge & Experience of writing and completing risk assessments

Key Tasks
- Lead on the co-ordination and delivery of participant activities
- Provide group and one to one activities and support.
- Act as a key point of contact to visitors, participants and volunteers in the Hub, meeting and greeting, logging data and supporting with daily duties in the Hub
- Produce timely, relevant and high quality reports, action plans and attendance sheets and submit any other relevant evidence relating to participant and volunteer progress
- Develop a range of appropriate on and off site enrichment activities for participants
- Oversee and monitor all on and off site activities ensuring all health and safety guidelines and policies are followed
- Liaise regularly with other members of the Partnership to discuss the progress of participants
- Support in the running of cultural, sports and enrichment events and activities
- Assist in the development and modification of materials and resources required by individual participants
- Ensure the welfare of participants in your care at all times, ensuring participants have appropriate and suitable personal protection equipment if required for any activities
- Be an effective member of the team, willing to both give and receive support from colleagues as necessary
- Help to promote the development of the participant’s communication, social skills and personal resilience and independence skills
- Help to ensure that participants are monitored and protected at all times, being alert to signs of safeguarding concerns
