Canterbury, United Kingdom Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust Full time

Looking for an alternatives? New beginnings? We are looking to expand the number of Peer Support Worker (PSW) to facilitate the on going development of the Peer supported Open Dialogue service (POD) within KMPT, the only stand alone NHS POD in the UK. Our award winning team is based in Canterbury and operates in the local area.

As a PSW you will be employed to support others by drawing on shared lived and life experiences rather than through professional interventions and approaches. This mutual, reciprocal, Recovery focused support often happens quite naturally as we meet others who have similar experiences - whether these experiences are social, familial, cultural, emotional or physical. You will be trained and supported to provide safe, appropriate and effective peer support that is based on the strong value base underpinning peer support within the POD model which promotes a non-hierarchical, non-directive, person centred, trauma informed and relational approach to mental health crisis. The model is delivered by the co
- production of network meetings with service users & their networks.

As an integral and valued member of a multi-disciplinary team the post holder will provide specialist support to individuals within their network, by using dialogical as well as peer specialist interventions through lived experience of mental distress to support service users. The successful post holder will also be required to have a voice in the evolution and promotion of the service to both internal & external stakeholders.

Come and work with us in the Garden of England where we combine exceptional professional development opportunities with a tremendous quality of life.

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust (rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care) has 3,283 staff working in 66 buildings across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues, rich in their diversity, who are committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones.

The nature of our work attracts kindness and compassion as standard and everyone from our cleaners and porters to the chief executive and chairman are recognised as playing a vital role in providing an exemplary service.”
