Safe Communities Officer

**The job itself**:
An enthusiastic member of staff is needed to work within the Anti-Social Behaviour team. You will investigate reports of anti-social behaviour, support victims and take action against those responsible, using both legal and early intervention enforcement tools and powers.
The postholder will also ensure that action is co-ordinated between Council services and partner agencies and will work closely with schools, including delivering presentations and workshops. In addition, the postholder will provide whole family support where anti-social behaviour is the main factor.
The work is varied and challenging and you will be required to develop and implement problem solving approaches to anti-social behaviour. Your work will include using early intervention tools and powers, including Acceptable Behaviour Contracts, Community Protection Notices and issuing fixed penalty notices. You will also be required to provide statements and prepare files for court proceedings. You will be given enforcement powers to tackle anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
You will have experience of working with challenging adults and/or children within the community, together with a good knowledge and understanding of community safety issues, including anti-social behaviour legislation. Knowledge of council housing legislation and the Supporting Families Programme would also be beneficial. You will also have a good knowledge of information sharing and safeguarding procedures. Enforcement is a key part of the role and you must be comfortable in taking action against those who behave anti-socially.
You will have at least 5 A* to C GCSEs or equivalent and, or be willing to work towards, a professional anti-social behaviour or crime and disorder related qualification.
You will display excellent organisational skills and be able to respond to difficult situations, managing your own caseload, in a confident, mature and professional manner. You will be a good communicator with excellent written and presentational skills and able to work as part of a small, dedicated, team using your own initiative. The ability to work with mínimal supervision and guidance is vital.
The nature of your work will require you to be able to drive and you will be expected to work out of normal office hours on one or two evenings each week. You may be asked to work anywhere in the East Riding, although your work will initially be in Bridlington and the surrounding area.
