**The Role**:
As an Emergency Preparedness Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to creating a safe and resilient environment for our residents, businesses and communities. Over the years, Westminster has had to deal with many major incidents such as fires, flooding, terrorist attacks, utilities failures and much more. Ensuring that we are ready to respond to and recover from future events is critical.
You will help to create build resilience and champion emergency preparedness across the Council in coordination with a London-wide network of response agencies. Working as a key member of our Resilience Team, your challenge is to learn from past events to develop plans and procedures, as well as to maintain and deliver a comprehensive training programme for emergency response roles. Your input will be vital in raising awareness of risk and creating a culture where ‘resilience is everybody’s business’. When incidents or emergencies do occur, you’ll be in the frontline, supporting local people and businesses when they are most at need.

**About You**:
You’re likely to have a background in emergency planning and resilience in a local authority or other large organisation. You will have worked successfully in partnership with a number of different organisations and will be used to managing multiple priorities and deadlines, including working in high-pressure situations. The ability to influence and negotiate with others is important and you should also have well-developed project management and planning skills. You must be willing to be regularly on call overnight and at weekends, and also to work outside normal office hours in response to major incidents.
