Butler Rose Public Practice are delighted to be partnering with this well-established, almost 40 years, well sized, 7 partners and circa. 60 staff, accountancy practice with fantastic offices based conveniently in the heart of St Albans, that are now looking to recruit a competent Tax Assistant to complement the existing private client tax team.

The firm offer a wide range of accountancy and taxation services across various industries, business sectors, private clients, and not-for-profit organisations.

**The Role**:
As a Tax Assistant, you will support with the tax compliance matters of a diverse portfolio comprising approximately 200 private clients, including landlords, sole traders, and directors. Working closely within a small team you will collaborate with more senior colleagues on complex tax returns and have the opportunity to contribute to tax planning and advisory projects under the guidance of the Senior Team, gaining exposure to various areas of expertise.

**Responsibilities**:
Supporting the team with client relationships within the private client portfolio
Preparation of personal, partnership, and trust tax returns using CCH
Compilation of sole trader and rental accounts in Excel
Collaboration with other teams to obtain tax return information
Reconciliation of tax liabilities and verification of account statements
Reviewing coding notices
Handling HMRC communication and resolving issues promptly
Preparation of capital gains tax computations and 60-day returns
Supporting with the completion of P11D and P11D(b) forms
Assisting Senior and Managers with more complex tax returns and ad-hoc advisory projects
Support and training will be provided to further develop these skills.

**Person Requirements**:
Solid experience working in UK practice dealing with a range of private client tax issues is essential.
Strong organisational and time management skills to effectively manage your portfolio and prioritise tasks.
Strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client service standards.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-reliant in delivering work.
Proficiency in CCH would be advantageous but not essential.
