Simulation Fellow

StocktononTees, United Kingdom North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This exciting job opportunity was established within the Education department at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

Based on the Trust’s commitment to enhance patient safety through interprofessional simulation training, there is an emphasis on enhancing team working skills for undergraduate and foundation level trainees and other newly qualified staff.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic doctor to continue to develop the use of simulation in different training contexts. North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust wants to optimise the use of simulation, enabling clinical leaders from all disciplines to lead a culture of patient safety and to ensure it is integral to organisational business.

Improve patient safety.

Simulation can be a useful tool for improving patient safety; using simulation based training and research techniques, improve patient safety and reduce the number of Serious Untoward Incidents (SUIs) across the trust and the wider health economy.

Improve training and development for all newly qualified staff, with particular emphasis on Foundation Level trainees and Assistantship schemes.

Simulation techniques are increasingly being used to develop and enhance skills of clinical staff particularly in view of Modernising Medical Careers and the Working Time Directive which leaves less time and opportunity for trainees to become competent.

Embed simulation training in UHNT & HH Trust.

In addition to patient safety and continuous quality improvement now more than ever is cost savings is an accepted mandate in the NHS. Simulation based clinical education can help trusts to achieve all three goals.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.
We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition - a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.
We recruit for values and “Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”

This exciting job opportunity was established in 2013 within the Education department at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust has and continues to invest in its, purpose built simulation centre within the Education Department, led by a consultant physician and with support from a Simulation Technician, a team of Resuscitation/Simulation officers, this post, and administration staff. The primary aim of this new development is to enhance patient safety through simulation training for interprofessional teams. This will also support the Trust’s work to address NCPOD recommendations for managing the deteriorating patient.
