Play Worker

Provide a high standard of holistic care (physical, social and spiritual) to the families, the affected child and their immediate and extended families. Work within the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations and other relevant national standards; help maintain accurate records of methods, evidence of policies and the monitoring of procedures for inspection. - Promote and maintain close relations and liaison with all staff at Julia’s House and all other agencies involved in the care of the clients we support, using the holistic approach Julia’s House has to care which promotes positive use of play techniques allowing the child to achieve their potential. - Work as part of the Family Support Services Team and be involved in the planning of sessions, both for the Hospice and the Community, including virtual and family events.
Assess those children who are referred for a play plan, for their suitability and capability for therapeutic play, with support from colleagues for those most complex. Write and develop individual play plans following the assessments, with support of the colleagues for those most complex. Deliver and engage children in play according to the individual capabilities of the child, offering support and advice on the use of play techniques and individual plans to enable their effective use by families and care staff. This will also include virtual and remote play, both group and individual.
Maintaining accurate records of interactions and communications with families on the case management systems. Develop evidence based practice and evaluate effectiveness of the child’s development through the use of play for each child. Take a proactive role in professional training, support colleagues, volunteers, multi-disciplinary team and families by providing training on play and activity which allows them to effectively use individualised play/activity programmes. In conjunction with Clinical Development deliver a series of workshops based on the Julia’s House ethos of play, which can be delivered internally and as part of skills exchange with external agencies.
