**Role Summary**:
**- **Leading the '˜back office' operation of our key Crawley-based Uniformed Services Team providing pensions services to 1.3m Armed Forces veterans and 80,000 Police Officers and their dependents?**:

- **Working as part of a wider team, with responsibility for Team Manager direct reports, you as Head of Function will be a best practice leader in driving, controlling and coordinating all areas of operational running in a complex, multiplatform and legislative environment.**:

- **This will require leadership of multiple teams across various locations, to ensure all performance measures are achieved, and to support a culture where your teams are full of pride and passion for what they do.**:

- **The jobholder will ensure all service activities are delivered in line with service level agreements and in line with client, budget, quality and risk requirements. Delivery must also be compliant with regulatory standards.**:

- **You will be responsible for running an operation, which supports customers in various Life and Pension related back office activities, with some requirement to deal with Customer Enquiries.**:

- **It is therefore essential that the successful applicant have experience of running a back office operation, with a strong working background of Pension products and Retirement Annuity market knowledge.**:

- **You will create an environment which is well structured and supportive, ensuring your teams have the requisite knowledge and skills whilst providing ongoing opportunities for personal development.**:

- **You need to take ownership of tasks and decision making, identify prospects for continuous improvement within your area of control and support full succession and resource planning to meet all departmental requirements and needs.**:

**- **Strong experience of running a back office operational area.**:

- **A strong understanding of UK Wealth, Life and Pension products and Retirement options.**:

- **Specialist knowledge of the Retirement/Annuity options and wider market knowledge.**:

- **Strong leadership qualities, acting as a role model to the team and other colleagues.**:

- **High level of understanding of operational risk and control in a regulated environment.**:

- **Understanding and awareness of scheme rules, industry regulations, current pensions legislation.**:

- **Good analytical, numerical and logic skills.**:
