**About the Department**:
This role sits within the Governance Directorate, which is the central core of providing independent support and advice across a range of governance and compliance functions for the School.

The Governance Directorate supports the effective functioning, development and enhancement of the governance framework of the University to ensure good governance and decision making, and oversees the University’s response to its internal and external governance-related regulatory responsibilities.

**About the **Role**

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role providing leadership and advice on legal, risk and compliance issues across the University.

As the Head of Risk, Legal and Compliance, you will be responsible for:

- implementing strategies and policies to ensure secure compliance with all statutory, legal, and policy requirements.
- To provide regular assurance and compliance reporting to the Board of Trustees and their Committees
- ensuring the institution has robust arrangements in place to respond to a major incident, and to ensure that business continuity plans are enacted to assist the University to resume normal operations as soon as possible
- Centralised oversight of University policies to ensure these remain relevant and reflect current practice
- Developing our risk management framework and policy.

**About you**
- Must have experience of leading organisational-level risk management
- Must have experience of preparing and coordinating an organisation’s incident response
- Must have significant experience of working at a senior executive level - demonstrable evidence of being able to influence and present verbal and written reports to this audience
- Experience of other governance / compliance functions required of this role eg: managing policies, working with internal audit
- Must have experience in a leadership role, including line management experience
