**Job overview**:
We would love you to come and join our acute speech and language therapy teams in Salford for a 7-month Fixed Term contract to cover a maternity leave.

The role will have a mixed caseload working across acute medical and surgical wards. The SLT team at Salford cover many specialities within the department including objective assessments, management of tracheostomies and have an interesting and varied caseload. We are keen to pursue innovative treatments within SLT as well as be involved in research. We are looking for a like minded individual to come and join us.

All applicants must have a degree in Speech & Language Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the RCSLT.

**Main duties of the job**:
There is a strong network of and 5 SLTs across the Northern Care Alliance and you will have access to this peer, supportive group.

**Essential criteria**:

- HCPC registration
- Degree in Speech & Language Therapy

**Desirable criteria**:

- Evidence of successful completion of relevant short courses
- MRCSLT
- Post basic training in dysphagia. Awareness of RCSLT competencies.

**Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience working in the NHS
- Relevant undergraduate / postgraduate experience of working with adults with acquired neurological conditions.
- Relevant experience at undergraduate / postgraduate level of working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
- Understands principles of evidence-based practice
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance / audit
- Works in line with the Northern Care Alliance Trust Values and conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Relevant experience in relation to development of speech and language therapy skills outside of undergraduate placements

- Awareness of limitations and will seek support

- Excellent presentation skills (written and verbal).
