**What We Are Looking For...**:
**Job Purpose**:
The Senior Merch is responsible for forming and delivering the wholesale strategy in line with the River Island Brand. They are the key point of contact for Wholesale and B&M, responsible for but not exclusive to, buying and merchandising planning and trading across core wholesale accounts. They will work with the partners and the merchandising team to shape the buying and merchandising plan. They will build strong cross functional working relationships and undertake company projects to support new initiatives. A River Island Senior Merchandiser must successfully train and develop the merchandising teams.

**Key Accountabilities**:
Strategic Planning and Trading:

- Own forming and delivering the planning and trading strategies, including partner specific strategies.
- Adapt to changing market dynamics and company priorities proposing adjustments to immediate and long-term financial plans to optimize margin and sales.
- Ensure effective trading, identifying risks and maximizing commercial opportunities.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Head of Merchandising based on market trends, competitor analysis, and sales performance.
- Participate in range planning discussions to ensure a balanced and market-responsive product assortment.

Inventory Management:

- Manage stocks within planned levels and agreed KPIs.
- Responsible for WW stock position

Collaboration and Leadership:

- Collaborate with the Wholesale SLT to drive key initiatives by account.
- Direct range plans in collaboration with Wholesale Merchandising teams.
- Lead and inspire the merchandising team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation

Cross-Functional Engagement:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and achieve company goals.

Development and Succession Planning:

- Manage a team including Merchandisers.
- Identify and nurture talent, providing development opportunities.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and opportunities for growth.
- Foster a learning environment that encourages professional development and knowledge sharing

Optimisation and efficiency:

- Continuously identify opportunities to optimize processes and enhance operational efficiency within the merchandising department.
- Implement best practices and tools to improve decision-making, forecasting accuracy, and inventory management.

**Key experience required**:

- A deep understanding of merchandising principles, including demand forecasting, inventory management and assortment planning.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret sales, trends and performance metrics, to enable data driven decision making for trading and planning strategies.
- Previous experience at mid level management in a role comprising of multiple stakeholder relationships.
- Experience in an omni-channel business is highly desirable
- Proven results in formulating and delivering a strategic plan
- Track record of delivering and exceeding sales and margin targets
- Track record of identifying and delivering on new product opportunities and trading opportunities
- Track record of driving strong team and individual performance and engagement
- Efficiently manages time and resources to balance multiple tasks, priorities and project deadlines.
