**Job Title**: Vetting, Prosecutions and Trials Team Clerk

**Salary**: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.

**Location**:Sidcup

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Non-Collision - Vetting, Prosecutions & Trials Team.

You will be a part of a team of staff that will be responsible for the vetting of Traffic Offence report cases and creating these cases on the CONNECT system so they can be laid for court.

Your work will include, but is not limited to
- The vetting of court files.
- Creating cases on CONNECT.
- Laying cases into the next available court date on CONNECT and issuing the SJP to defendants.
- Making sure that cases allocated are processed before their Statutory Time Limit (STL).
- Streamlining of the Trial Process by reviewing current processes and procedures and identifying improvements for best practice.
- Working with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and internal disclosure officers.
- Making sure that the 21-day deadline of papers sent to the CPS is met.
- Dealing with cases reviewed for withdrawal and inform the courts.
- Dealing with Youth cases and Postal Charge Requisition cases for trial.
- Managing a caseload and allocation of a batch/trials.
- Perform relevant checks to support the Prosecution e.g., Police National Computer (PNC), DVLA.
- Vetting of files to be court ready including creating relevant documents when required.
- Updating Pentip/CONNECT System for each case.
- Dealing with other MPS partners including DVLA and HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS).
- Creating cases on CONNECT and adding information to produce the Single Justice Notices or Postal Charge Requisition.
- Serving documents on defendants within agreed timelines.
- Resulting 1st time hearings.
- Requesting supplementary statements from officers.
- Liaising with HMCTS regarding court dates or plea queries.
- Dealing with Borough and Roads Transport Policing Command (RTPC) officers.
- Conducting Insurance checks and making decisions on whether insurance is held or not.
- Recording work related statistics accurately within the time limits of local line management in preparation for the Performance Report.
- Passing any not guilty pleas, special reasons, case management, equivocal plea cases, stat decs and reopens for trial to trials team.
- Dealing with not served cases -enquiries re new address and send new Single Justice Procedure (SJP) with covering letter.
- Dealing with cases reviewed for withdrawal and informing the courts.
- Encrypting discs and serving to the defendant with a password letter.
- De-warning and re-warning officers and private witnesses as soon as possible.
- Dealing with stat decs and re-opened cases for trial.
- Resulting cases on CONNECT.
- Opportunity to attend court with the Police Prosecutors and do file preparation and case management outside the court room and assist with information needed.
- Dealing with discontinuance notices and bringing to the attention any case where the discontinuance decision appears perverse.
- Other duties as directed
