**Job Title**:Traffic Trials Team Clerk**

**Salary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.**

**The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.**

**Location**: Sidcup**

This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly created Non-Collision Prosecutions Trials team. The team has been created with a view to streamlining the Trials process and to deliver the best possible service to the CPS and HMCTS regarding the creation and processing of Traffic Trial Files.

You will work closely with the designated disclosure officers and Police Officers to make sure that all disclosure obligations are met, and the Trial papers are sent to the CPS at least 21 days before the date of the Trial as per our agreement.

Your work will include, but is not limited to:

- Streamlining of the Trial Process by reviewing current processes and procedures and identifying improvements for best practice
- Working with the CPS and internal disclosure officers
- Making sure that the 21-day deadline of papers sent to CPS is met
- Dealing with Youth cases and Postal Charge Requisition cases for trial.
- Dealing with queries from the Crown Prosecution Service or Police Prosecutors
- Managing a caseload and allocation of trials.
- Create trial CPS number from trial spreadsheet.
- Dealing with ‘Not guilty’ pleas
- Serving body worn footage on the defendant when received and ensuring it is in correct format for CPS and shared to correct parties.
- Encrypting of discs and serving to the defendant with password letter
- Updating CONNECT with relevant data and submitting to CPS.
- Warning Police, Special officers and private witnesses for trial.
- Updating Pentip system and tasks.
- De-warning and re-warning officers and private witnesses as soon as possible.
- Dealing with stat decs and reopened cases for trial.
- Reviewing and dealing with discontinuance and proposed discontinuance notices from CPS and bringing to Band D attention any case where the discontinuance decision appears perverse.
- Resulting trials.
- Passing completed case file to disclosure officers in a timely manner
- Making sure that papers are served to the CPS at least 21 days before the date of the trial
- Opportunity to attend court with the Police Prosecutors and do file preparation and case management outside the court room and assist with information needed

**How to apply**
- Excellent Communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to prioritise a large case load
- Good IT skills demonstrated over a number of packages
- Ability to work well in a small team
