Job description

Since 2004 New Routes has been working with, and supporting, refugees, asylum seekers and isolated migrants in Norwich to support their wellbeing and ambitions and by providing skill-building and social programmes in a safe and welcoming environment. We promote cross-cultural integration and community awareness, working with individuals and families from over 60 countries of origin. We work closely with an extensive network of partner organisations, both third-sector and statutory. New Routes is one-third of the Norwich Integration Partnership (NIP), alongside English+ and The Bridge Plus+.

We are now seeking to recruit a Learning and Training Coordinator to support us in our vital work.

**Principle purpose of the post**:
The Learning and Training Coordinator will play a critical role in the commissioning of specialists to develop a bespoke curriculum which, ultimately, we will aim to become accredited. Classes will be delivered by volunteers and will focus on practical topics such as using public transport, shopping, visiting the GP. In addition to this there will be activities that explore popular culture such as music, films and art. Classes will include formal ESOL classes as well as conversational, informal group sessions. The Learning and Training Coordinator will have full responsibility of recruiting and supporting volunteers.

The Learning and Training Coordinator will be responsible for exploring training, apprenticeship and employment opportunities for participants.

**Key Responsibility Areas**
- Coordinate ESOL classes
- Assess the learning and training needs of New Routes adult participants
- Lead on the design, delivery and evaluation of language learning programmes as appropriate
- Ensure all New Routes’ learning and training programmes are delivered in a safe and welcoming environment
- Develop appropriate pathways for all participants to demonstrate that learners have good speaking, writing, listening and reading skills in English - to include formal accreditation such as IELTS
- Develop new opportunities through partnerships with statutory and non-statutory organisations
- Develop access to apprenticeship and employment opportunities for all participants
- Ensure all programmes are delivered with the aim of empowering participants and promoting their integration, wellbeing, ambitions and skill-building.

**Other Duties**
- To represent New Routes Integration at local and regional meetings as appropriate
- Provide quarterly reports to the Chief Executive.

**Compliance and financial management**
- To carry out all duties in compliance with appropriate procedures, including in the maintenance of records and information.

**General requirements**
- To ensure adherence to policies and procedures with particular reference to race equality, diversity and Health & Safety policies
- To work in a flexible manner and to be willing to be undertake other duties as reasonably requested, and in different locations
- To provide excellent customer care in dealings with the public.

**Special conditions of the post**
- To be able to work flexibly - including evenings and weekends as required - and in different locations.
