We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team as a Support Coordinator at McGowan Court in Byker. Our service is going to be a brand-new Home Group supported accommodation offer commissioned by Newcastle City Council and will make a massive difference to health and homelessness. Our service which will accommodate and support both male and female customers who are referred into the service via the Housing Advice Centre - part of Newcastle City Council’s statutory arrangement to provide housing and support to their most complex and vulnerable adults who have found themselves in housing crisis.

Our customers will be offered a variety of accommodation solutions with us. The current offer is a number of dispersed properties in our portfolio across the city where customers can enjoy a degree of independence with the knowledge that we’re there to support them when needed. A further option, which you’ll be involved in developing, is a placement at McGowan Court in Byker which will have 12 self-contained accommodation units. This part of the service will open in 2023.

Being part of this highly skilled team, you deliver person centred support, with a focus on supporting customers to manage or improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing. We deliver a package of support that empowers customers, supports in delivering resilience and enables them to develop the life skills and tools required to move on successfully into their own independent accommodation.

You’ll help us deliver efficient, high quality, cost effective and customer centred services and help empower our customers to live independently and make it a great place to work for our colleagues.

**About you**

You’ll help change our customer’s lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. You’ll create bespoke and personalised support plans with and for your customers. Each plan will look to meet our customer’s individual needs and aspirations, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.

You’ll also have responsibility for coordinating our support workers, apprentices and volunteers, and working collaboratively with external agencies, to assess and engage support for our customers.

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe) You’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system. This means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.

As this is a community-based job, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a vehicle that would also be amazing (we pay your expenses to cover this use)
- When you join as a Support Coordinator, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one._

**Where and when you’ll do your job**

You’ll be asked to work in a multi-Disciplinary way with other professionals who will be encouraged to base themselves at McGowan for periods during the week to find collaborative solutions to our customers’ housing and health needs. Initially you’ll be based at Cedar House in Byker, supporting our customers in community properties.

You’ll eventually be required to work on a rota basis between the hours of 7am - 8.30pm. However, this role will initially be Monday to Friday and 9 - 5.
