The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Colleague Health and Wellbeing Team as our new Disability Support Coordinator. In this role, you will work alongside our Colleague Health and Wellbeing Lead to coordinate the development and implementation of a range of guidance, training and resources that removes barriers, promotes inclusive practice and ensures colleagues across the University have access to the appropriate support and reasonable adjustments. You will raise awareness and promote a positive, respectful and inclusive culture to enable access, progress and retention for disabled employees.

The ideal person for this role will bring with them a strong administrative background and experience of coordinating a large and varied workloads within agreed timeframes. You will be a highly effective communicator with some prior knowledge and experience of providing advice and guidance to disabled colleagues. You will also have experience of coordinating budgets.

This role will report into the Colleague Wellbeing Lead and work closely with a range of colleagues across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities
- Working with the Colleague Wellbeing Lead, coordinate the development and implementation of a range of signposting resources, guidance, and training to ensure colleagues are aware of how to access support and reasonable adjustments.
- Act as a central point of contact for colleagues with a disability and managers seeking guidance to support teams, ensuring they are provided with accurate information and triaged to the correct support services and facilities.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of workshops for managers to ensure they have the knowledge to support colleagues and embed disability inclusion in the workplace.
- Coordinate and attend outreach events and activities to raise awareness of disability support and inclusion across our colleague population.
- As part of the Colleague Wellbeing Team, you will work with colleagues in People Services, Organisational Development, the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Team as well as a range of colleagues across the organisation to raise awareness and embed disability inclusion at each stage of the employee life cycle.
- Act as the link person between managers, People Services, Occupational Health, Estates and Facilities, IT services, and external providers in relation to adjustments, processes, and acquiring equipment.
- Facilitate improvements in provision for disabled colleagues in a wide range of settings by participation within a variety of working groups.
- Work with colleagues to ensure inclusivity for disabled colleagues across the University, and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support the monitoring, coordination, and reporting of the Workplace Adjustments Budget, liaising with suppliers, raising purchase orders, and processing invoices where required.
- Monitor contracts/subscriptions and act as the point of contact for relevant external organisations (e.g. Business Disability Forum).
- Maintain, develop, and promote the Enable webpages and respond to enquiries to the Enable inbox.
- Keep abreast of internal and external strategic developments that may impact upon support for disabled colleagues. This includes, but is not exclusive to, government strategy, and sector best practice initiatives.
- Develop a strong working relationship with Student Health and Wellbeing Services to share best practice.
- Support the coordination of our Disability Confident submission and any other relevant accreditations to ensure the ongoing progress of related activity.
- Coordinate the reporting of data where required, ensuring all data is handled in line with information compliance protocols.
- Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required.

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Some prior knowledge and experience of providing advice and guidance, preferably to disabled colleagues or working in role aligned to disability support.
- Experience of successfully coordinating large and varied workloads to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
- An understanding of how disability impacts on employee experience.
- Experience of developing and running workshops, events and/or information and advice sessions.
- Experience of managing confidential information and a working knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage colleagues at all levels and respond sensitively to a range of views.
