**We have an opening for a Environmental & Sustainability Officer to join our Quality Team - the hybrid role is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK**

You'll be joining a team that has a global reach in an exciting phase of transformation as we partner with customers, internal teams, and our parent company Alstom, to advance our approach to our sustainability commitments across the world.

You will be Responsible for the development, maintenance and expansion of Nomads environmental management system, energy management system and our sustainability activities and CSR work.

Your role will be to ensure planned works are completed to budget, safely and within set timescales, managing our ecosystem of clients, suppliers, contractors, and partners (both internally and externally). Client facing skills are essential, supported by the ability of good planning, co-ordination, communication skills and hands-on experience.

You can work from either our Newcastle HQ and also, as we are a free and flexible business, from home - _providing you are happy to travel on occasion._

Currently serving more than 80+ global customers - in more than 40 countries - we design, build, deploy and manage passenger Wi-Fi and on-board passenger infotainment systems. We also provide remote online condition-based monitoring and maintenance solutions for optimising fleet management, operational performance and improving fuel economy.

**What will I be doing?**

The main areas of responsibility are to:

- Manage all operational functions in relation to environmental management activities across all of Nomads global activities
- Manage all environmental related training activities and develop further training material as required
- Manage the company training system for all training activity
- Manage and coordinate environmental monitoring systems and development of the EMS
- Develop the BMS processes and procedures and forms relative to environmental related activities and improvements
- Support with the planning and maintenance of the Nomad audit plan and controlling documents within
- Prepare, monitor and maintain monthly & annual QHSE performance data reports
- Support and manage office managers/ local reps to effectively comply with their legal requirements on office management and remotely support HSE management for all site
- Be the point of contact for all environmental issues / concerns across Nomads operations.
- Champion of CSR activities and coordination work
- Support the Head of QHSE to coordinate all safety communications to employees globally
- Promote health and safety across all Nomad operations and departments.
- Develop Nomads CSR initiatives and drive the development of our key projects
- Develop Nomads energy management system and associated documentation and processes
- Capture, measure and identify all of Nomads environmental aspects and impacts developing and expanding our current ISO compliance coverage
- As required support other departmental functions such as quality, health and safety and supplier related activities as and when needed

**_ What experience or qualifications do I need to have?_**
- Environmental related degree
- NEBOSH Diploma desirable but not essential
- IEMA certificate in Environmental management desired but not essential
- IOSH Managing / working safely desirable
- Internal / External / lead auditor certification / course completion desirable Member of IOSH/IEMA desirable

**_Other Requirements:_**- An interest in sustainability and environmental problem-solving
- Experience in compliance related role
- Experience of maintaining EMS/BMS systems
- Experience of developing environmental processes, systems and documentation
- Experience of working with ISO 9001 standard
- Experience of working with ISO 14001 standard
- Experience of working with OHSAS18001 / ISO 45001 standard is desirable
- Experience of working with ISO 50001 is desirable
- Experience of maintaining training and database information is essential
