Environmental and social considerations are central to Mott MacDonald’s Purpose and its offerings across all sectors and territories. Our environment and social business provides essential services and innovative solutions which anticipate our clients' needs across all sectors.**Overview of role**
- The Environmental & Sustainability Services (ESS) team consists of over 130 environmental and sustainability professionals located across 18 offices throughout the UK and Spain. ESS are involved in a diverse range of projects across a number of different sectors, including but not limited to energy, ports/marine, defence, water, rail and urban development projects for a variety of clients including local authorities, government agencies, utility companies, Network Rail, National Grid, contractors and many more.- ESS lead on the coordination, delivery and management of environmental and sustainability workstreams at all stages of the project lifecycle, from business case development and optioneering through to supply chain procurement and construction. The ESS team are pivotal to advocating for environmental and social outcomes on projects and embedding sustainability into the decision-making process, working closely with environmental technical specialists, stakeholders, design team and clients.- Digital innovation is also at the forefront of all work undertaken, with several team members skilled in the use of GIS, and ESS fully embracing the use of emerging digital technologies. As well as delivering ESS workstreams, there are opportunities to work alongside technical teams where skills and interests align including climate resilience, carbon and our wide range of environmental and social disciplines. Working with our sectoral and client account leaders to provide technical leadership and advice on UK wide major infrastructure projects, you will also be working to develop internal and external relationships in the North East, Yorkshire and Humber Region supporting the Regional Environmental Lead to win and deliver local work. We are looking for a Senior Associate with level consultant with at extensive experience to join our North of England ESS Team, working on projects across the UK. We would be very keen to talk with you if you are interested in working across a diverse portfolio of projects, delivering environmental and sustainable outcomes for our clients and also helping to develop our people.- We are looking for someone to be based out of our Newcastle, Leeds or Sheffield city centre offices. We are seeking someone to help manage and lead the growing Newcastle team, working alongside the ESS North of England & Scotland Team Leader, including local business development, managing resources, some line management duties, cascading key messages such as regarding health and safety, aiding with the technical development of junior staff and looking out for their wellbeing in the working environment. Alternatively, we are seeking someone to be based out of our Sheffield or Leeds offices to support the current ESS Team Leaders with providing technical leadership, mentoring and potential line management of staff and local work winning and delivery.- Essential- Relevant academic/professional qualifications
- Chartership through a relevant organisation
- Highly experienced in EIA, relevant UK environmental planning legislation and/or ESG, sustainability strategy development for infrastructure projects and national and local sustainability priorities
- Experience of working in a client-facing environment and ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes
- Well organised with strong planning and management skills, with ability to produce high quality deliverables and manage budgets and programmes
- Experience working in diverse multi-disciplinary teams and leading teams to produce environmental and sustainability deliverables to a high standard
