The Role: Technical Product Engineer
Contract: Rolling contract
**Salary**: £162.88pd/£40 000pa
Location: Chertsey, Surrey
Start date: ASAP
You will be part of the Technical Product team within the UK’s IT & Mobile division. You will be working on products with the latest cutting-edge technology and making sure these are technically ready for the UK market. You will get to live and breathe thesenew products as part of a connected lifestyle and ensure customers have a great experience using our products and services.
Your key responsibilities:
- To be part of the team responsible for managing the overall software release and approval process relating to the launch and in-life management of smartphones, wearables and tablet devices.
- Working on Open Market software to ensure that devices meet R&D software quality guidelines and are ready for launch in the UK market.
- Investigating technical issues for software launch and maintenance release cycles and working with internal teams to resolve these in a timely manner.
- Managing and raising defect tickets on defect management and tracking systems.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the software and settings in our phones, tablets and wearables.
- Use this knowledge for raising and investigating technical issues on software releases from R&D teams and approving Field Test reports across all 3 categories of devices.
- Working with the Technology team in managing software approvals processes and communicating technical issues to internal and external partners.
- Ensuring open market software approvals are aligned with channel intake partners and communicating approved versions with SCM and warehouse teams for delivery.
- Proactively leading innovative and strategic internal technology projects to improve end-user experience
- Support the TPM team and wider team in flashing devices for key partners and helping the team with ’s sample management system.
- Anticipate potential issues/delays both from a technical and launch perspective and raise these to the TPM and Head of Technical Product Management team.
What we need for this role:
- BEng or equivalent in Mobile Technology, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience within the consumer electronics and mobile device testing, repair/service industry.
- Interest and knowledge of mobile hardware, software and network technologies such as processors, memory, screens, LTE, IMS, VoLTE, eSIM and 5G.
- Experience with mobile field testing and logging tools (QXDM, MTK etc.) and comfortable using Wireshark, HP ALM, QC and JIRA software systems.
- Experience in defect management and issue tracking systems.
- Good to have some level of experience as a device service engineer with some level 1 or level 2 experience.
