**Where and When do we need you?**

We are looking for a Designated Safeguarding Officer to support our Governance and Quality Team. It is essential to embed excellent safeguarding practice across our organisation and to monitor, review and continuously improve safeguarding and child protection policies, procedures, and practice. You will play your part in providing operationally independent oversight of the quality and safety of Fair Ways services, to recognise best practice and identify opportunities to raise standards so that the organisation continually improves and bring about lasting change.

**In this role you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like**:

- **Quality Assurance**: Providing support to operational and executive boards to fulfil their legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements by providing oversight and quality assurance of safeguarding practice. Ensuring effective safeguarding policies and procedures are in place consistent with legislation and regulatory requirements and that procedure and relevant best practice is followed.
- **Strategic Development**: Providing strategic leadership specifically aimed at promoting and protecting the welfare and safety of the service users who come into contact with our organisation. Ensuring the organisation has an effective safeguarding training strategy that meets the needs of service users and staff.
- **Partnership Working**: Ensuring effective collaboration and communication with the Human Resources function so that relevant cases are supported with both employment law and safeguarding expertise.
- **Governance and Reporting**: Supporting the governance system through the provision of effective safeguarding reporting informed by the analysis of relevant qualitative and quantitative information so that key themes, trends, risks and areas for development can be highlighted and responded to.

**This role we be working Monday
- Wednesday on 22.5 hr per week basis (other daily working patterns could be considered). This role will be a hybrid position, working from home and at our central support office in Portsmouth 1 day per week.**

**You and your specialisms**

- To hold a Social Work Qualification, NVQ Level 4/5 in health and social care management or equivalent and hold relevant professional registration.
- A minimum of 3 years management experience of running a regulated residential, health or education service for children or adults; or experience of managing a team where safeguarding is central to its purpose.
- Experience of implementing change within safeguarding settings and coordinating safeguarding enquiries.
