**Job description**:
Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) in Whale Island, Portsmouth, is the nerve centre of the Naval Service. It upholds operations around the globe and provides the ships, people, aircraft, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy.
NCHQ supports all the Royal Navy’s activities, from front-line operations to personnel support and training; finance and governance; safety; equipment acquisition; programmes and planning; and Defence Engagement.
Civil servants and Armed Forces personnel work together in a wealth of interesting and challenging jobs in areas ranging from finance; legal services; personnel and HR; project planning and managing contracts, to media and communications.
The Selborne contract empowers the Contractor (Team Fisher) to plan, programme, configure, design and deliver training to achieve the output required and so emphasis will be placed on the RN’s ability to oversee and assure Contractor operations. Operational management of the contract will be discharged through the joint RN-Contractor TMG based in West battery, Whale Island, Portsmouth and integrates all functions, enabling the Authority to act as an intelligent customer and facilitating coherent decision-making across the contract.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide day-to-day management of ‘business as usual’ activity within the Selborne contract.
- Working with the Commercial Managers and the Operations and Performance Lead, to ensure compliance with the Statement of Requirement.
- Act as the interface between the Authority and the Contractor at an organisational level, delegating management of the contractor relationship at establishment level to the CSOs.
- Manage Training Design and Training Scheduling Processes with the Contractor.
- In conjunction with the Commercial Managers, manage routine change in relation to the contract.
- Support the Head of Commercial in Contract Management and project meetings as required.
- Line manage 3 x HEO Contract Support Officers.
**Person specification**:
The CDO role is a fast paced, multi faceted role encompassing elements of project management, contract management and operational delivery.
