Health & Justice Team

The GMMH Health and Justice Service provides Individualised care and treatment for service users with a wide range of mental health conditions across the GMMH Criminal Justice footprint. Our mental health service works within the stepped care model, providing services from assessment and treatment at Step 2 to specialist secondary mental health care at Step 5. As a multidisciplinary team, GMMH Health & Justice Teams aim to provide a healthcare service that is equitable to community services, this includes involvement from registered nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, wellbeing practitioners, counsellors, and support staff.

The postholder’s role will offer integrated working and treatment pathway management, across all multidisciplinary interfaces, whilst independently undertaking and contributing to the timely assessment, diagnosis and management of those with complex mental health conditions.

Core Role Description /Purpose/Main Responsibilities

The post holder will have a substantial track record as a highly experienced, and expert nurse in their field. As a substantial part of their role, the post holder will be expected to undertake, direct, and assist in specialised and diagnostic assessment, undertake holistic assessment of needs, and offer treatment and risk management planning for patients within varying locations across the regional GMMH Health & Justice service. This will be done under supervision of the consultant psychiatrist and/or Clinical lead

The post holder will provide comprehensive healthcare sensitive to the needs of the population you will be expected to provide daily clinical oversight, accessible consultation, and clinical leadership within the GMMH multidisciplinary primary and secondary care interfaces across various categories of HMP Prison establishments and community Health & Justice providers. This will involve the post holder upholding and being a trusted carrier of core trust values in terms of their own attitudes, behaviours, integrity in clinical practice and leadership of others.

The post holder will be responsible for meeting the mental health care needs of patients in the Health & Justice setting, exercising effective critical decision-making skills to manage deterioration proactively and safely.
