**About the Role**

Established in 2014, BOM is an arts organisation that exists to inspire and empower communities through transformational digital experiences. We explore how creative technology can be used as a tool for change, to make society better. Our interests and expertise are in neurodiversity and technology, how creativity can unleash the potential of under-served communities and how creative innovation can address environmental challenges.

BOM’s engagement programmes support under-served children, young people and adults to learn creative digital skills, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and young people excluded from mainstream education who face multiple barriers at the start of their career pathways.

In addition to our engagement work, BOM develops immersive and interactive audience experiences.
Having designed the technologies for the Queen’s Baton for the Commonwealth Games and created numerous immersive experiences that have toured globally, we are starting to develop commercially viable digital products and services as part of an evolving Immersive Studio model.

Having secured additional Arts Council funding for the next three years to build the business, our turnover is expected to reach £750K in 2023/24 (currently £500K). And we have more ambitious plans ahead, with a £15m capital project planned that will take us from a single trading entity to a parent company with subsidiaries.

To support our transition and growth plans, we are looking for a dynamic and driven Chief Operating
Officer to join BOM’s senior leadership team.

The COO will have executive level experience, and be responsible for financial performance, managing capital assets and ensuring legal compliance across the company. They will work closely with the CEO and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to drive growth plans that will ensure BOM’s long-term sustainability.

The COO will play a crucial role in managing financial performance, setting and updating strategic forecasts, authoring and updating the timeline and working closely with the CEO, Head of Immersive,
Finance Manager and external fundraising consultants to ensure successful execution of the fundraising strategy to meet targets. They will also work with the CTO to feed into commercial plans for immersive products and services BOM is developing, helping us develop commercially viable income streams for our immersive work to offset our charitable work.

The COO will work closely with the capital project management team to procure contracts, and closely monitor cash flow, spend and delivery against the budget and timeline, taking a proactive approach to identify and mitigate risks and keeping the CEO updated. The COO will meet and report regularly to our key funders, ensuring BOM complies with T&C’s of funding agreements.

The COO will take responsibility for BOM’s legal compliance, including statutory filings, HR, data protection, company policies, insurance, commercial contracts, state aid rules, working with BOM’s external HR agency and external financial and legal advisors as required.

The COO will also oversee building operations, ensuring our venue(s) run a slick operation with high levels of accessibility and customer experience. Currently, this just involves our building at 1 Dudley
Street which is overseen by our Operations Manager. However this will expand to The Crown pub,
Shaftesbury House and car park (land where the new Centre for Digital Inclusion will be built).

Once the capital project completes, the COO will shift into an operational leadership role across the property portfolio, working with the venue managers to set and track future targets, and drive efficiencies across the group company.

**Overview of Responsibilities**
