Being able to provide consistent data that describes the coverage capability of the Radio Access Network is critically important to all our customers (BT, PlusNet, EE and ESN Emergency Service Network). It’s so important to get the complex nature of the radio network simplified to explain network status and capability to both technical and non-technical people.
- You’ll be required to technically define and decide upon the solutions in RAN Design for Coverage Assurance to make sure the network is maintained to be always as designed, through implementation of state of the art tools across 4G and 5G. You’ll be working with the RAN Coverage & Spectrum Technical Lead to develop, coordinate & maintain a coherent multi-vendor, multi technology strategy for 5G technical coverage.
- This role will be based in Bristol.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Keeping fully informed of all Radio Access Network (RAN) architecture standards and RAN coverage Vendor affecting developments in 4G, 5G & associated technologies
- Understanding, collate & interpret Radio Access Network (RAN) Vendor coverage affecting features & developments
- Providing in depth technical insight on the implications of RAN feature implementation on network coverage and strategy development. Provide in depth technical analysis on the developments in coverage features, with clear insight on the likely impact on EE strategy and roadmap evolution opportunities in pre-project stages
- Deciding on design scope to undertake and support coverage assessment and coverage assurance activities. This will include RAN coverage testing, proposing trials to assess network changes and estimating the time and type of resource needed. Perform in depth technical analysis and present the internal roadmap view internally
- You will be typically leading a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts to deliver network design solutions and provide technical thought leadership to a larger matrix team (such as internal BT resources or our suppliers)

**What we would like to see on your CV**
- Deep understanding of Mobile Radio Network architecture design and operational processes to develop and run the network. Excellent knowledge of 2G/3G/4G and 3GPP based Public Safety standards services
- Proven experience in building the case for change, drawing on data analysis and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to both technical and wider business audiences. Good knowledge of RAN vendor processes
- Direct experience of use of Radio Access Network air interface to drive survey test tools including RF scanners. Excellent experience of the use of Radio Planning Prediction tools including post processing of outputs using Geographic Information Systems. Good knowledge of Radio Access Network KPI definition and interpretation
- Experience of Python & R Studio in the context of report analysis automation.
