You'll join us on a permanent part time contract, 30 hours per week. You'll work 4 days out of 7 with occasional weekend / evening working.

You will have a key part to play in bringing together the shared ambitions of our team and the local communities we connect with.

What you'll be doing:You’ll lead for volunteering and community engagement on site. We have over 150 existing volunteers regularly working with us on site, in a wide range of roles. You’ll spend time with volunteers to get to know what matters to them, whilst helping to build the confidence and capability of our volunteer managers as they lead and support their teams.

You’ll spend time beyond our boundaries to connect with a wide range of people and organisations, reaching into the local community and building relationships across communities that are both new and known to us. Working with these contacts, you’ll develop exciting and meaningful participation and volunteering experiences that build on the strengths and priorities of local communities. You will also work to increase the confidence and capability of others to work with communities grounded in principles of respect and equity, whilst creating a collective, flexible and inclusive environment for all.

You'll be instrumental in helping us in the development of a new community and volunteering plan for the property that is dynamic, relevant and mutually beneficial. You'll be a champion for Everyone Welcome, the National Trust’s strategic objective to ensure everyone feels welcome at our properties and places by 2030, creating opportunities that are both attractive and accessible.

You'll be required to work as the Duty Manager rota from time to time on a rota basis. There will be occasional evening and weekend working.

- Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working.
- Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
- Strong communication skills.
