The role

The Head of Communications at Frontiers strategically leads both science communications, promoting our research and researchers, and internal communications, driving employee engagement and advocacy around Frontiers’ mission, products, and key priorities.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, and working closely with the Executive Management Team, the Head of Communications plays a leading role in developing a coordinated program of communications activity to inform and engage our global internal and external audiences.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement an integrated communication strategy that supports Frontiers’ business goals and priorities
- Identify, write, and edit a broad range of executive-level communications for global audiences, including reports, brochures, press releases, and speeches
- Engage with senior leadership to develop key themes and priorities for the internal and external communications calendar throughout the year
- Capture successes and metrics from across the organization and translate them into compelling stories and case studies
- Develop employee engagement programs that ensure two-way dialogue within the organization
- Use employee feedback to recommend and implement new initiatives to improve internal communications
- Collaborate with PR to build response plans and scenario planning
- Build and maintain external partnerships with industry, media companies, and key influencers
- Act as a media spokesperson on behalf of Frontiers, develop relationships with international press contacts, and represent the company at events
- Define and monitor key metrics to assess the performance and impact of communication initiatives
- Develop goals and objectives for the department, monitor performance and professional development, and conduct annual appraisals
- Oversee and track the annual budget and ensure it is fully maximized

About you
- Expertise in science communications, background in publishing, academia, pharma or similar field
- Bachelor’s Degree and at extensive experience leading a communications team (both internal and external)
- Ability to work with executive and senior management, providing informed recommendations with excellent negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to work independently and to manage a team with multiple ongoing projects
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across a wide range of styles and for multiple channels
- Native-level English speaker
- Ability to produce clear and concise presentations and reports
- Experience with digital asset management tools, analytics tools, and content management systems
- Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines and prioritize varied workloads
- Collaborative team player and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic global environment
