**About Family Services**
The aim of the Family Service is to ensure that all children and young people in Barnet achieve the best possible outcomes and to enable them to become successful adults, especially our most vulnerable children.
Key areas of our work include:
- Safeguarding our children through our multi-agency Barnet Children’s Safeguarding Board
looking after children who are in care.
- Recruiting foster families and potential adoptive parents and placing children in their care.
- Making sure that children in need of social care receive the support that they need.
- Reducing Domestic Violence and working with perpetrators of Domestic Violence
- Working with Young Offenders and young people who are at risk of getting involved with crime or gangs to reduce youth crime.
- Whole family approach to early intervention and prevention, strengthening links with voluntary sector organisations, especially where this ensures that youth and play activities are available.
**About the role**
- To ensure that the children and young people’s home and the intervention centre is safe, clean, hygienic, and ‘homely by undertaking a variety of domestic tasks & duties efficiently, safely and having regard to the professional objectives of the setting. This include ensuring the that outside of the building is clean and safe.
- Due to the broad objectives of the post, it is necessary that there is a degree of flexibility form the employee.
- As a domestic assistant you will be part of a team that provides a high standard of care to children and young people.
- Be responsible for the delivery of services to children and young people in the home, in such a way that safeguards and promotes their welfare.
- To contribute and promote to the effective physical, social and emotional environment for children and young people which provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment to live.
**About you**
Main duties & responsibilities
- Ensure the entire residence premises is clean and tidy
- Make sure the housekeeping guidelines and routines are well followed
- Assist the team with other domestic tasks such as cooking, safeguarding etc
- Develop a positive relationship with all residents, staff, and other visitors to the home by becoming an integral part of the team
- Carry out any other domestic tasks efficiently, requested by the management
The successful applicant will require the following:
- Must be able to work flexible hours including Early, Late
- Enhanced DBS disclosure required
- Previously experience in this setting would be an advantage but not essential
- If shortlisted you will be required to bring photographic ID to your interview to prove your identity.
