**Hours**: 40 Hours per Week

The specialty of Urology is part of the Division of Planned Care, whose multidisciplinary approach to the provision of healthcare underpins the aim of the Division in achieving the highest possible standards.

The successful applicant will join the existing team of 5 Consultant Surgeons, 2 Trust Registrar, 1 ST3+ Doctor, 2 ST1/2 Doctors and 1 F1 Doctor.

Participation in a 1:4 weekend on-call rota is required.

Applicants should preferably have completed their foundation/intern training and have at least 1 year’s surgical experience at ST3+ level.

The hospital is situated in a beautiful location on the outskirts of the historic Roman City of Chester. We are within easy access of Manchester Airport, North Wales and the Lake District. The Trust is committed to continued professional development, and to a culture of ongoing service improvement.

The postholder will regularly attend supervised clinics, flexible cystoscopy lists, day case and inpatient lists so that the operative and management skills are commensurate with the level expected for ST3+. They will be actively encouraged to get involved in audit projects and academic work.

This is a Trust post and not recognised for training purposes, however the successful applicant will participate in relevant teaching opportunities.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.

The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with almost 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. The organisation provides a wide range of services offering health care to the whole spectrum of the population from birth to the end of life.
