We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Allied Health Professional Clinical Lead Therapist for the ICSNRS based at Ansdell Medical Centre on a full-time basis with flexible working (agreeable on appointment).

The post holder will be an experienced therapist, with knowledge of stroke and neurology rehabilitation. As the clinical lead, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the service as well as providing a consultancy function as required. You will work collaboratively with other health care professionals and disciplines as part of the ICSNRS and beyond.

The post holder will provide leadership and support to our team of therapists who provide holistic, individual assessments and rehabilitation in a variety of settings within the community, including patients own home, clinics, intermediate care and care homes for clients who have acquired a stroke or neurological diagnosis.

The post holder will need to manage a small clinical caseload of clients as a lone worker to support the team and overall service and work within an agreed job plan.

The post holder will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

Clinical Practice

The clinical commitments of this post include implementing rehabilitation programmes with the patients, their carers/family and the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating rehab plans, maintain accurate records for all patients and manage any identified risks appropriately.

The post holder will be supporting the smooth transfer of patients into the service and when discharged back into a community setting to ensure effective response times and communication with patients, carers and referrers, avoiding any unnecessary hospital stays.

The post holder will be expected to attend and contribute to departmental meetings e.g. multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT), case conferences etc., along with to contribute and support service developments and changes within the team.

The post holder will be expected to assess and intervene to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision making.

The post holder will also be expected to, if legally authorised, to prescribe medications based on efficacy and safety, integrate appropriate non-drug-based treatment methods and orders and interprets common screening and diagnostic tests.

Leadership and Management

As the clinical lead for the ICSNRS, the post holder will provide leadership which demonstrates positivity, determination and resilience in managing complex, difficult and unpredictable situations. You will proactively build effective working relationships and act as a role model for the trust values and professional standards in all interactions. You will uphold a person-centred approach in all aspects of care and service development.

The post holder will lead on and actively participate in the services self-assessments, peer reviews and audits to ensure that care delivery is safe, effective and of high quality.

The post holder will use business and management strategies for the provision of quality care and efficient use of resources as well as undertaking risk assessments and manages risk effectively. You will work closely with commissioning teams and the directorate manager to ensure the full delivery of the service.

The post holder will be responsible for the line management and development of qualified and unqualified staff within the service including appraisals, personal development plans and recruitment.
