An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join the team as Community Midwifery Sister. If you are a clinically credible midwife with a broad range of midwifery experience, possess distinct passion for ongoing learning and development, then this could be the role for you. You will need to be self -motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

To promote a holistic approach to maternity care and provide effective management and supportive midwifery leadership to the community midwifery teams. Ensuring effective and efficient day to day running and budgetary control of the community midwifery teams. To promote and maintain professional standards and actively contribute to the achievement of Trust and Directorate objectives and to provide assurance to Senior Midwifery Management Team.

**Our Maternity services include**:
A modern alongside 3 bed Birth Centre with birthing pools and 8 postnatal beds

10 bed consultant-led Labour Ward with a birthing pool

A dedicated Obstetric theatre with recovery

18 bed Maternity Higher Observation Ward

A Bereavement Suite with garden

A Maternity Day Unit and Outpatient Clinic and Midwifery Led Sonography services

17 bedded ward for inpatient antenatal and postnatal mothers and babies

6 bedded Transitional Care Ward to minimise separation of mothers and babies

Our Community Midwifery Services are Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Award Winners 2021 for Excellence in Care During a Global Pandemic

Professional Responsibilities

Organisational / Management Responsibilities

Demonstrate positive and supportive leadership and motivational skills in the management of staff as well as detailed knowledge of midwifery and contemporary maternity care

Develop and maintain a departmental culture which promotes an open and honest approach to professional decision making and problem solving

Lead specific designated projects.

Promote and maintain organisational and professional standards, ensuring that Trust and Directorate Policies and Guidelines are available, implemented and followed.

Demonstrate and promote excellent interpersonal skills, written, verbal and nonverbal communication styles

Influence and nurture positive attitudes and behaviours within the teams and wider multidisciplinary team

Ensure adequate staffing for the team and the wider community service, complete quarterly off duty for staff and identify and authorise bank shifts where appropriate and within allocated budget.

Ensure staff are managed in line with current Trust HR policies and processes including appraisal

Facilitate Preceptorship and Mentorship programmes within the clinical settings by collaborative working with the Practice Development midwives and the wider multi-disciplinary team including the University of Northampton

Demonstrate a working knowledge and effective use of the escalation policy.

Manage the team’s compliance with internal and external health care standar
