Join us as our Head of Strategic Investments
- An important way in which we deliver our strategy is by working with third parties, investing in their businesses to encourage collaboration and to support new ideas and technologies
- As our Head of Strategic Investments, you’ll be responsible for sourcing strategic opportunities and negotiating terms, while managing a small portfolio of investees and partnerships

**What you’ll do**:
Investing in the right technology means that we can inspire growth and empower our colleagues to help as many of our customers as possible. That’s why making the right strategic investments are so important, and why your role will be crucial when it comes to identifying potential investment opportunities and partners.

Your daily responsibilities will see you generating, finding, analysing and agreeing potential investment opportunities, including with early stage technology start-ups. Alongside this, you’ll be coordinating and delivering deal structures and planning to build and support a portfolio of investments and partnerships.

We’ll need you to lead the development of appropriate business cases while working collaboratively with colleagues and delivering engagement plans with the start-up community and external partners. You’ll also provide the completion of the appropriate due diligence in collaboration with specialist teams across NatWest.

Your top priorities will include:

- Managing a portfolio of early stage, joint venture or programmatic strategic investments and negotiating and agreeing terms that position NatWest Group effectively
- Leading comprehensive due diligence, including people, products, technology, go to market and competitive positions
- Maintaining industry awareness by building and cultivating long-term relationships with start-ups, investors and the technology community
- Using board seats to manage ongoing relationships with portfolio stakeholders
- Inspiring creativity by influencing senior stakeholders and driving our bank to become more innovative through thought leadership, culture, education and industry participation
- Collaborating with our Brand Marketing team to position our brand in the strategic start-up ecosystem

**The skills you’ll need**:
To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience of similar work at a senior level and have outstanding analytical and quantitative skills.

As well as this, you’ll need industry-leading knowledge and capabilities, including of insights, key trends and customer demands. These skills will have been developed within a financial, corporate, or investment institution. You’ll also have established networks in the start-up ecosystem to draw upon.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

- A deep understanding of a wide range of technologies, technology trends and technological innovation
- The ability to assess alignment to the future ‘One Bank’ strategic need
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills to leverage relationships in our bank and develop long-term partnerships from outside
- An understanding of how to recruit and establish a new team and excellent recruitment, people leadership and team building capabilities
- The ability to influence, persuade and challenge conventional thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to synthesise sophisticated information, form a view and effectively communicate it to others
