We are looking to recruit reliable, caring and enthusiastic people to join our motivated, friendly and hardworking team based in Winchester, Hampshire.
We are currently recruiting for part time (22.5 hours) and full time (37.5 hours) roles, offering a great basic salary of £20,330 (for full-time).
After training, for all hours that you work between 8pm and 6am Monday - Friday and all-day Saturday, you will earn a shift bonus of approx. £14 per hour. For Sundays & Public Holidays, you will earn a shift bonus of approx. £17.60 per hour.
- Plus we are now offering a generous recruitment & retention bonus.
A £200 bonus once you successfully complete the 3-week initial training.
An extra £300 bonus when you’ve been successfully signed off after your coaching & mentoring period (c3 months after the initial training).
A further £700 bonus will be paid when you’ve completed your probationary period (c6 months after coaching sign-off).
(The bonuses above are for full-time contracts and those on part-time contracts will receive a percentage of the maximum bonus e.g. for a 24 hour per week contract the first bonus would be £128. The second bonus would be £192. The final bonus would be £448).
The Role of an Emergency Call Handler
We are looking for people to work as part of our dynamic team to help support our 999 service. You will be dealing with potential life and death calls from members of the public. This could vary from someone who has fallen over to guiding someone to perform CPR or assisting with the birth of a baby This is a career where no two calls are ever quite the same.
As part of the call handler team, you will be working in the Clinical Control Centre (CCC) alongside Dispatchers, Clinicians and other NHS professionals. You will be directly involved with live 999 ambulance emergency calls, taking vital information to help arrange the most appropriate care and support.
We provide comprehensive training to prepare you for the role and maintain ongoing support for all our Emergency Call Takers, ensuring they have knowledge, skills and support they need to provide the best care to our patients.
Training is a mixture of in the classroom and in the call centre, with ongoing training throughout the job. Initial training will be 8-weeks full time which will be fully paid. The training covers internal systems, NHS pathways assessments and one to one coaching and mentoring on live calls. You must be able to commit to a 8-week period to do this training. Day and evening training times are available.
