Our Midwives have a passionate philosophy for promoting individualised and high standards of care and birth experiences for all women accessing our Maternity Service. The Eden Suite Birth Centre consists of five birthing rooms, two with En-suite birthing pools. In addition, a further birthing pool within the Delivery Suite provides individualised, holistic care to high-risk women along with a further eight delivery rooms. We have a stand alone community birth centre staffed by the Highfield Team, concentrating on services in the community setting and homebirths. We also have implemented successful Continuity of Care teams with the development of more teams this year.

The midwifery teams at WUTH provide care to approximately 3200 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, both low and high-risk women. Encompassed within the unit is a Level 3 Unit for Neonatal Services, Children’s Services and Women’s Unit. We have a reputation for innovation in providing high-quality care to women in a hospital/community setting.

If you are dedicated to being responsible for providing personal, evidence-based and individualised midwifery care, then this could be the post for you.. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and a clear demonstration of the ability to provide personalised maternity care. You should have a clear commitment to current developments and initiatives within the Midwifery arena and sound knowledge of current issues in the public health agenda.

About the Role

The successful applicant will work in our Continuity of Care model and must be flexible to work in this model. We are committed as a Trust to implement Better Births and improve outcomes and experiences for our service users.

What we’re looking for

The successful applicant will be passionate about midwifery care and needs to hold current registration as a Registered Midwife with the NMC. You will need to demonstrate your commitment to ongoing professional development within your role, with a commitment to working as part of a team and willing to demonstrate a high standard of evidence based midwifery care in line with local and national initiatives. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle will be necessary

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
