An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 band 6 practitioners to come and join the Safeguarding and Complex Care Team.

The role requires the post holder to provide support to Named Nurse to ensure that the front-line staff and the Trust are fulfilling its statutory responsibilities in line with national/local guidance for Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Complex Care.

The cohort of Complex Care patients has been defined by the Trust as those patients who have a Learning Disability and/or Autism, Dementia and Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The post holder is expected to work closely with the Trust’s frontline staff, providing clinical leadership and education to enable staff to understand and fulfil their roles in the safeguarding of all vulnerable people and complex care. The post holder will be a role model, with motivating skills to inspire and encourage their peers to adopt and maintain the highest standards of safeguarding practice, promotion of dignity and human right through the adoption of person-centred principles.
The post holder will act as a source of specialist advice and knowledge for all health professionals employed in the organisation in relation to safeguarding agenda, complex care and promoting the welfare and safety of vulnerable people who use the Trust’s services.

The main duties of the role will be to support the Safeguarding Named Nurse for Adults and Complex Care Lead in the management of safeguarding and complex care patients.

You will use your knowledge and experience in safeguarding to ensure triage, risk assessment and onward referral is robust and appropriate for our most vulnerable patients.

The post holder will act as a source of specialist advice and knowledge for all health professionals employed in the organisation in relation to safeguarding agenda, complex care and promoting the welfare and safety of vulnerable people who use the Trust’s services.

Work as part of an integrated Trust wide Safeguarding and complex care team working in partnership with external community partners for patients admitted to the Trust.

Visit clinical areas daily to provide support and advice to staff, patients and carers to during their inpatient stay.

Participate in the development and deliver specialist Mandatory and bespoke education and training (Protecting Vulnerable People) in relation to safeguarding agenda for clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust.

Participate in the development and deliver specialist Mandatory and bespoke education and training (Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training) for clinical and nonclinical staff across the Trust.

Contribute to and maintain appropriate data collection tools, audit data collection and methods.

Support the Specialist Lead Nurse/Named Nurse/Midwife in the development and use of appropriate strategies and Trust policies of safeguarding practice across the Trust.

Processing of safeguarding and complex care notifications and any administrative tasks required in order to support the efficient and effective running of the department required to keep patients safe and supported.

Workload will be allocated by Specialist Lead Nurse/Named Nurse/Midwife with an expectation that the post holder will manage own case load within appropriate time scales. promptly alerting the Specialist Lead Nurse/Named Nurse/Midwife to any issues or concerns when required.

The post holder will undergo quarterly safeguarding supervision.

To act as a resource by providing advice to WUTH Staff in relation to all
safeguarding and complex care matters ensuring that care and support is
appropriately implemented within healthcare delivery in line with legislation.
